Megagame Madness – The dice are rolled

OK so the plan to extend from Cry Havoc but I need some time to think… so I think

When you think of 2d6, you would normally think of a 2 dice each with 1 to 6.

However there are two other interesting dice type I have seen used or just generally can be bought.

I’ve had a look at these sets as I’m looking for a solution to handle an awkward situation with an idea.

XCOM 2: Long War – Suppression and Second Opinions

Sometimes it takes some research in order to find out why you are struggling with a game; XCOM 2: Long War was a surprise.

WARNING, not streamed for over a year or three, so not up to scratch.

When I was playing XCOM2 : Long War, I was struggling with getting very far, I was getting wiped out very quickly.  However, as I streamed my research live, I was surprised how I was able to take advantage of one key factor, and a mistake I made.

Scratchbrew (CinS Part 1) – The Maths of the RPG (Part 2)

I was going to do Castle Falkenstein second however that is bogged down in technical issues… (there is a reason why in this case and I assure you this is interesting).  However I decided that it would be interesting to look at a system that shows your skill as something that really matters.

FATE is one of the systems that uses the Fudge Dice (+/0/-).  In fact it purely uses 4 of them providing a result of between 4 and -4.

Scratchbrew (CinS Part 1) – The Maths of the RPG (Part 1)

When you do homebrew and challenge yourself to make something interesting… never expect it to survive the initial format.

I nearly killed off one of my players, instead he ended up with serious injury (I didn’t kill him off outright I just seriously injured him.

This was all down to one thing… MATHS… zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

OK, may not sound fun but it can be the difference between life and death.  Look at any game and how the numbers work can change the way the whole system operates.

For this exercise I’m going to use three systems; Castle Falkenstein, FATE and the third (sigh)… Maid RPG.

This has a few tables… this may be one of the more BORING posts… and constantly been adjusted until the print out.

Call of Cthulhu (Part 2) – Point Blank

I’ve seen my first death in Call of Cthulhu… someone shot themselves.  However it wasn’t because they were going insane.

It was a situation where we went suddenly from an unknown situation to a threat that was very real.  Two chapters in of a six chapter story, the threat was real…

But this wasn’t what literally killed the game… it was a single roll.  One of the characters was able to get a point blank on an enemy… or at least he tried and failed on a 20% roll even allowing a re-roll for point blank.

I had a look at the odds and actually… well I was surprised.
